The Gaura Festival.





Married women wearing colorful dress and play the main role and worship Shiva-Parvati for the longevity of their husband and peace, prosperity and happiness of their family during a Gaura festival. It is a group of women working together whose collective efforts not only make this festival continue for centuries but also serves as an example of unity to the young generation.


Women are wearing colourful dress and dancing with theirs western region women as during Gaura festival who people come their home from western region to celebrate this festival together with their families and their relatives in living Kathmandu, Nepal. This is a tradition of the Far Western Region, began to be celebrated in the Kathmandu valley just five years ago. The festival in the capital now also marks an occasion to gather the people living in the valley from the Far Western region together. Not only did they get to dance hand in hand


with people of their region, they also got a taste of the delicacy from their region like Batuk Chukani, Mada and many other delicious food.
The most important part of the festival is the fasting, which women start from the eve of Gaura to this evening. They fast for the good health of their husband and children. It is also believed that this festival will bring more celebrations and also marks that rainy season

has ended to begin the winter
